Building on the success of extensive vaccination coverage for free, the Awami League led government aims to inoculate all people of the country with at least fourth dose of the coronavirus vaccine on priority basis in phases in a bid to protect people from any more future wave of coronavirus infection transmission. According to government sources, as many as 15,05,65,501people aged 5 years and above have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine in the country till February 15, 2023 while 13,67,84,348 people got the second dose of the vaccine and 6,71,78,742 people received the third dose of the vaccine in the country. Under Honourable Prime Minister (HPM) Sheikh Hasina’s leadership, Bangladesh emerged as a top nation in ensuring vaccination for the people as the country rolled out a free scheme that, according to experts, exemplary one.

HPM Sheikh Hasina has not only urged the people to grow food in every inch of land to face the global food crisis but also she herself utilized fallow lands of her official residence Ganabhaban. Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina, who grew up in this soil, cultivated different verities of paddy, vegetables, fruits and flowers, honey and fishes along with rearing ducks, hens, pigeons and cows. She cultivated onion, mustard and sesame. As the head of the government, she usually spends a busy day but she also looks after the farming and harvesting at her residential complex whenever she gets time. Moreover, she has a small cow farm, as well as some domestic ducks, Chinese ducks, swans, and a pigeon farm located inside the Ganabhaban.

The government will purchase 16 million liters of soybean oil for the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) aiming to provide people with low cost oil to offer relief to offset global headwinds. Besides, the BCIC would also procure some 30,000 metric tons of bulk granular urea fertilizer from SABIC Agri-nutrients Company, Saudi Arabia. Despite global economic crisis, Bangladeshi expatriates have continued sending home remittances, providing a boost to the economy amidst a shortage of dollars. Bangladesh received over $1.05 billion or approximately Tk112.54 billion as inward remittance during the first 17 days of February with Tk 6.62 billion daily receipt, according to latest central bank data. In January, the country received $1.96 billion in foreign remittances while it was nearly $1.7 billion in December. Of the amount received so far in February, private commercial banks brought home $858.3 million, state-owned commercial banks $165.7 million, specialised two state-banks $23.9 million and foreign banks $3.8 million.

With a vow to resist the destroyers of language, culture and heritage, the Bengali nation on 21st February observed the great 'International Mother Language Day' and the 'Martyrs' Day' all over the country and elsewhere across the globe. Bangladesh readymade garments (RMG) export has hit a record growth in the European market recently. According to the latest data published by the European statistics organization EUROSTAT, between January and November 2022, the European Union bought 38.39 percent more garments from Bangladesh than that in 2021. EUROSTAT data show that cumulatively in January to November 2022 period, EU imported USD 95.17 billion worth of apparel from the world, noting 22.39 percent year-on-year growth. In Jan-Nov 2022, EU imported USD 21.18 billion worth of apparel from Bangladesh, as it holds the position of the second largest apparel import source for the EU.

Bangladesh and the United Kingdom (UK) agree to enhance the bilateral trade partnership to increase mutual prosperity ahead of and after Bangladesh's graduation from Least Developed Country (LDC) status. The decision was taken at the second Bangladesh-UK Trade and Investment Dialogue held in the capital. On the other hand, the UK invited Bangladesh to engage with the UK private sector to pursue a commercial dispute resolution system to unlock the full potential of Foreign Direct Investment into Bangladesh. Moreover, Bangladesh welcomed the UK's generous Developing Countries Trading Scheme (DCTS) and acknowledged its role in integrating Bangladesh into the global economy, creating stronger trade and investment opportunities.
