Mentioning various measures of the government to address macroeconomic challenges, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has observed that Bangladesh economy is on the right track. "I think, the economy is on right track in terms of meeting the objective of programme, getting inflation under control and addressing macroeconomic challenges given in difficult global environment," IMF director for the Asia and Pacific Department (APD) Krishna Srinivasan said in Marrakesh, according to media reports. The authorities in Bangladesh have taken significant measures to address macroeconomic challenges. "They have tightened monetary policy to reduce inflation. They have allowed more flexible exchange rate," he added.

A record number of 150 newly-constructed bridges and 14 overpasses across the country have been opened to traffic in a single day on Thursday, which is considered to be a milestone in the development sector and also a huge boost to the country's road connectivity. Honouurable Prime Minister (HPM) Sheikh Hasina opened the newly constructed bridges and overpasses by unveiling the inaugural plaque at Sarok Bhaban in the capital’s Tejgaon. Of the inaugurated bridges, 40 have been constructed in Mymensingh division, 32 in Dhaka, 27 in Chattogram, 22 in Rajshahi, 12 in Khulna, eight each in Barishal and Rangpur, and one in Sylhet. Earlier, on November 7 and December 21 last year, the premier opened 100 bridges and 100 roads and highways across the country.

A project has been undertaken to boost milk and meat production through modernizing the cattle breeding system in all the eight divisions of the country to meet the demand. The main objectives of the project are making proven bulls in increasing and sustaining cow productivity, conservation and development of genetic characteristics of indigenous breeds and skill development of farmers and departmental manpower to increase milk production. The project would help in increasing the productivity and sustainability of livestock to meet the food security of the country, meet the nutritional needs of the people, reduce poverty and improve the standard of living.

HPM Sheikh Hasina urged the world leaders to spend the money, used in producing arms, for food, health and development of the children. She said war and arms race never brought welfare for the mankind except destruction and the women and children are the worst sufferers of the conflicts. "We want peace as it gives prosperity while the war brings destruction. So, we don't want war rather peace. We always work for establishing the peace," she said.

A team of 75 members of the Bangladesh Navy left the Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram last week to participate in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), a United Nations peacekeeping mission in Lebanon. The navy personnel will join the Navy warship "BNS Sangram" deployed in Lebanon under Bangladesh Navy Contingent "Bancon-13".

Bangladesh joined the global wind power club with the inauguration of its Cox's Bazar wind power project. The wind power project, located in Bangladesh's southeastern Cox's Bazar district, some 400 km away from capital Dhaka. Upon operation, the project will provide Bangladesh with about 145 million kWh of clean electricity per year, reduce coal consumption by 44,600 tons and carbon dioxide emissions by 109,200 tons, as well as meet the electricity demand of 100,000 households. With HPM Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the 82Km train service on the route through Padma Bridge on October 10, preparations are underway to roll out commercial train movement on the 82-km Dhaka-Bhanga route through Padma Bridge from November 1. Another milestone in the country’s infrastructure development while also connecting well the southwestern region of the country. Once the rail link becomes fully operational, it will save travel time between Dhaka and Jashore, Khulna and others district by half, help make a major boost to the country's railway connectivity.

The National Agriculture Policy 2018 is being implemented to make Bangladesh’s agricultural production sustainable and transform the agriculture sector. Bangladesh's investment plan has given priority to six sectors such as cold storage installation and post-storage management, agro-processing and marketing, climate smart agriculture, irrigation and water management, skilled human resource generation and use of technology of the fourth industrial revolution.As of July 2023, more than Tk 45,000 crore has been invested in this sector.
